Monte Shinkle was born into the home of Walter (Buck) and Frances Shinkle of Gallatin County, Kentucky on November 28,1953. He had the privilege of being raised in a Christian family that was very involved in Ten Mile Baptist Church. He, his sister and brothers were surrounded by loving people and enjoyed the pleasures of farm life in Kentucky.
Monte graduated from Gallatin County High School, as valedictorian, in 1971. He then attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from the College of Agriculture with a BS in Animal Science in 1975. He is a two-time graduate of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity as well as Doctor of Ministry.
He and Betty Stephenson were married March 15, 1974. They have been blessed with four children and twelve grandchildren. Serving Jesus and loving their family is their greatest joy.
Monte has pastored four churches over the span of a ministry that began in 1973. He delights to preach God’s word in churches of all sizes. He has preached numerous revivals and many special conferences over his many years of ministry. He developed Take Heart Ministries while serving more than 30 years at Concord Baptist Church, Jefferson City, Missouri. Take Heart continues through the ongoing proclamation of the Gospel by means of radio, website, and podcast.
